Big Wedding Weekend

Date: Summer 2014 - 2016

Client: Southbank Centre

Location: Royal Festival Hall

Southbank Centre’s Summer Festivals in 2014 and 2015 was the Festival of Love. In 2014 to celebrate the same sex marriage act and in a bid to rewrite the rule book of weddings, Southbank Centre held 70 weddings across the weekend, seating 2000 people for a wedding breakfast and parties in the evening with 5000 wedding guests.  There was 6 wedding ceremonies in the unique Royal Festival Hall with upto 20 couples in each one with 40 plus guests each, which was followed by champagne for all and a wedding breakfast was chosen by 50 couples and their guests. The evening party had DJs throughout the building and The London Gay Big Band as the wedding band. More entertainment was provided outside the building all day as the public was invited to join in at this momentous weekend

Joule was chosen to project manage this huge event, and worked with a big team to guarantee that every step of the day worked well and ensured that each of the 70 couples had the best day of their lives.  The weekend was very successful and everyone who was part of it, felt very proud.

We repeated it all again in 2015, and saw another 30 couples get married in another highly successful weekend. Plans are already in place for a repeat in 2016.
