Joule shares its knowledge and encourages others – students, unemployed and career changers – to take the plunge into the world of events, an area where the right skills and experience are at a premium. Joule delivers training courses that offer people the opportunity to learn about events and to see if they have a taste for it.
Joule coordinated the original Udderbelly Training Academy for the Southbank Centre. In collaboration with Underbelly Ltd, Joule devised and delivered a 5-week course for young people aged between 16 and 21, which included training, overseeing work experience and facilitating an event organised by the young trainees. Joule then accompanied 6 young people on work experience at the Edinburgh Festival. The following year we adapted the course to include a Silver Arts Award. Julie Flavell became an Arts Award advisor.
Joule was invited to deliver the Tower Hamlets Summer University Events Course, which saw 20 young people complete a 4-week course. Joule organised the University’s end of course showcase for its summer programme. It was a huge success – “I have never seen a THSU event like it before, professional and brilliant!”
